Manchester has a strong partnership with BBC Breathing Places, and is one of 15 Breathing places Cities declared nationally.

Breathing Places promotes the value of Nature via a range of events and activities encouraging community involvement and rasing awareness.

In 2010, Wythenshawe Park hosted the North West Regional BBC Springwatch Wild Day Out. The event attracted over 6000 visitors to a fun packed family day out, giving local people the chance, among other things, to shampoo a cow, race a tree, hold a stick insect and generally have a good time!!
