Nearly 500 square metres of green roof is being created as part of the town hall extension transformation.

A green or living roof is defined as a system where vegetation is incorporated into the roofsurfacing, providing biodiversity and insulation benefits, as well as helping reduce water run off.

The THX green roof is designed to be sustainable and low maintenance, comprising of Sedum matting, plus a rubble area for invertebrates, which in turn provides a great foraging area for birds - in particular the rare Black Redstart.

Just take a look at how it's shaping up!
