This former landlfill site in Gorton is a real hidden gem. Thanks to lots of support from Red Rose Forest and the City Council, significant investment over the years has transformed the place into a haven for people and wildlife. The Friends of Nutsford Vale, local people who care about the site, have recently won a Clean City Grant from the City Council to create nearly a Hectare( thats about the size of two football pitches) of wildlflower meadow.

Work has just begun and the site will soon be seeded with millions of wildlflowers from a seed mix supplied by the National Wildflower Centre in Liverpool. Flowers to be sown will include cornfield annuals: poppys, cornflowers and corn chamomile, and perennials such as ox eye daisy, foxglove cow parsley, evening primrose and vipers bugloss.. when it flowers the bees, birds and butterflies will love it - and so will we!
