armistice 3 nov 2016

Friday 11th November 2016

Pupils from Bowker Vale School along with staff, Councillors and members of the local community remembered the dead from conflicts past at the annual remembrance event held today at Blackley Forest.

Every year, pupils from the school provide personal readings, poetry and songs that commemorate the ultimate sacrifice made by so any.

Poignant poems were beautifully written and read by some of the children, and at 11 am all fell silent at the sign of the cannon, heard miles away from Manchester Town Hall.

The 2 minute silence was impeccably observed, and was followed by the eulogy, read by Dot Keller from the friends of Blacklet Forest.

The event is held in the top Meadow at Blackley Forest amid a collective of 40 wonderful Liquid Amber trees, planted to commeorate local people killedd in World War two and in conflicts since.
